In times like these, it’s easy to believe in Evil, the
Essence at the core of America at least, and more likely,
Humanity, that the best that one can do is
Turn to Christ’s Father and
Beg forgiveness,
But let’s be real:
Heaven made us this way, or
Call it Nature. What does it matter.
In times like these, it is hard not to believe
In gods, that among our high pantheon, a
God of chaos, of cruelty, call Him Homo,
Bringer of fire to the ape,
Not one person or even the people, but
Human nature, Humanity,
Not essentially evil, but, it is quite easy to see,
A manifestation, an incarnation, just as some believe God
Can become manifest, Evil incarnate on earth.
No people is more real than their gods.
Call the powers what you please,
But to know Arya one must know Indra.
If one is to confront the reality of a people,
One must confront the reality of their Gods.
Yet I can still see (the darkness is not complete)
Beauty, Goodness shines like daybreak
Through it: I have not lost faith.
