"Neil McDonald was in the army for a long time. Some of his descendants say that he served altogether 21 years between the army and the navy. He was in the battle of Egypt in 1801 - "ann am Blar na h-Eipheit," and after he had come to this country [Nova Scotia], his tears would flow if one should sing in his hearing the great song which Alexander MacKinnon composed about his battle ...
