May be related to Mary "Polly" Martin Johnston. Clarinda's sister Lois also married a Martin.
We have a Lyman Martin (b. 2 Apr 1829) who married Mary T. Barnes, and a Luman Martin (b. Apr 1830) who married Clarinda Galutia. Are they the same man? The 1900 census indicates Luman had been married in about 1865, and was a widower, yet he appears to have married Clarinda in the 1870s, and Clarinda was still alive in 1900 (we think).
Maybe Luman had married Mary Barnes in 1865, and Clarinda had died on the trail, just as the Johnston story has it? |
