| Notes for John Sjostrand | ||||||||||||||||
| John's father was a Swedish immigrant, and his mother was the oldest child of Swedish immigrants. He was a hard-working, fun-loving Swede. He worked on the Fort Peck and Shasta Dams, and was a successful mechanic. He had huge, strong, fingers. John lived 93 healthy years. His father Martin had lived 96. | ||||||||||||||||
| Misc. Notes | ||||||||||||||||
| My personal notes show his birth in Hazelton [Township], near Lancaster, Minnesota. This would make sense, as his parents' farm was in Hazelton Township. My personal notes also show him living in Fargo before moving to Hallock. These notes were from discussions with his wife Cora. | ||||||||||||||||
| Notes for John & Cora Idella (Family) | ||||||||||||||||
| They moved from MN to Flaxville, MT in 1930, or possibly early in 1931. John's & Cora's ashes are at: Chapel of the Light (S.C.I. Corp.) Mausoleum and Crematory 1620 W. Belmont Ave. Fresno, CA 93728 (559) 233-6254 | ||||||||||||||||
| Misc. Notes | ||||||||||||||||
| The family moved into a motel above (north of) Salt Creek on Christmas 1939, and soon moved into a house at Salt Creek, just below the railroad trestle. They laft for Ricmond during the Summer of 1941 when John got a job at "Smith & Sons" in San Francisco. They lived on South 39th Street, near Cutting. This was near to a place where pullman cars were either manufactured or refurbished. | ||||||||||||||||
