Marius' birth is recorded in the Hornå Parish register (Djurs Sønder). This is corroborated by his confirmation entry in the Hornslet Parish register. For some reason, the 1880 census indicates that he was born in Vejlby Parish (perhaps the Vejlby Parish adjacent to Homå Parish.
A Marius Jensen of the right age registered to emigrate to Philadelphia on April 1, 1888. He was on the ship "Indirekte", and his profession was "skrædder" (taylor) ... the "State of Georgia" arrived in NY on April 26 (too soon?) with a Marius Jensen aboard.
Wis & Ina Guthrie have the same birthdate for Marius, but they have him born in Nimtofte (Djurs Nørre) rather than Homå (Djurs Sønder). |
