Notes for Rasmus "John" Marius Jensen
Rasmus, who went by "John" in his adult years, was born illegitimate and hardly knew his parents. His father left for America when Rasmus was an infant. At age 10, Rasmus was not living with either of his parents, and we have found no evidence of him living with his mother at any time, though he must have in his infancy.

He is known to have corresponded with his mother and [half] sister in his later years.

Rasmus spent his childhood and early adulthood farming in East Jutland. He immigrated to New York at about age 24, in about 1915. In 1920 he was living in Old Field, working as a garndener. He was also a trolley driver in his early years in New York. By 1922, when he met Jennie, he was a milkman in Manhattan.
Misc. Notes
Neils Johan Jensen and Jensine "Sine" Rasmussen were both servants in a household in Ommestrup, Randers County, Denmark when Rasmus was conceived. Neils and Sine would never marry. Rasmus was born in late December, 1890 while Sine and her father were living in her half-sister Ane Marie's (pron. "Anna Maria") house in Hvilsager , the village where Sine was born. Rasmus' father appears to have left Denmark for America when Rasmus was an infant. Rasmus doesn't appear to have been raised by his mother, and was certainly in a different household at age ten. He operated a farm at age 12, and left Hvilsager and Denmark for New York at age twenty-four.

Notes for Rasmus "John" Marius & Jane "Jennie" Mary (Family)
I've narrowed down their wedding date to mid-spring 1923, but even that's unsure. Their firstborne came a few months later. I have no idea how a Lutheran would marry a pregnant Catholic in New York City at the time. Neither of them liked the others' religion much at all. I'm confident theirs wasn't a Catholic wedding.
