| Notes for George Patrick Donlin | ||||||||||||||
| George sold off most (or all?) of his Hand County land in May 1918. He had previously purchased a half section, the in May 1918 he sold 3/8 section (or more). In late autumn, 1918, George was working for a machine company overseas. Claire Sweeney says that a couple of Mike and Delia's unmarried sons lived on the Donlin homestead until about 1923, when they finally gave up on the farm. Claire says that those sons must have been George and Leo. But we know that George was working overseas when his father died (from the obit). Leo, as young as he was, would have been a good candidate. Perhaps Art would have been George and his brother Leo were both living in Mildred, Montana in Autumn, 1950. After George was kicked in the knee by a horse, he moved to Detroit, where he would work for his brother Art's industrial painting business. George was married at about age 55, and then moved to Kankakee, IL. He had no children. [source unknown - age appears to be incorrect] Painter, Farmer, Steeplejack (painted high rises and other really tall things), Grain Elevator Manager | ||||||||||||||
