Notes for Delia H Powers
Current Donlin family records say that Delia was born in 1861, but the 1860 census says she was already two years old in 1860. Delia's obituary states she was born in 1859.

Beneficiary in her mother's will as "Delia Donlin". Her sons Michael and Arthur were also beneficiaries.

Misc. Notes
In the 1885 census, "Delia" was reported to have turned 25 in [June] 1884, so she would have been born in 1859. In the 1900 census, "Delia H" was reported to be 39 and born in June 1860, so she would have been born in June after the 11th in 1860. In the 1910 census, she was reported to be 49 in April, which is consistent with the 1900 census.

It seems quite likely that Delia was born June 12-30, 1860. This is about a year earlier than what the family record indicates, and makes it plausible that she matches the Delia we've found in Troy in 1860 and 1865, but a discrepency of one to two years still exists.

The 1865 NY State census shows a Delia who was 6 years old on June 15. Our Delia would have been 4 or 5. This is forgivable, though the census also reports a brother Michael who is four years old. The 1860 census shows a two year old Delia, but of course our Delia would have been two months old at most.

I don't really believe anymore that the Michael Powers in the 1860 and 1865 censuses was remarried in 1859-60. I think this was more likely a check mark indicating something else (I've heard this was common practice). The 1865 census indicates that he and his spouse were both married only once, and that she had 10 children (of which we found 8). Either this was not our Delia's family, or she had her facts badly messed up. In the latter case, how can we prove anything?
Misc. Notes
Claire Sweeney says that Delia was strict, strong on manners, and very regal. Claire also says that Delia was a good manager, and had to be, since she had so many children, and since Mike Donlin was illiterate (though bright; Catholic children were not permitted an education in Ireland).

Someone has told me that Delia's mother could tell where an immigrant was from in Ireland by listening to them speak. Delia denies any recollection of this, so it must have been Ray or Vince Donlin.
Notes for Michael "Mike" Patrick & Delia H (Family)
Michael Patrick and Delia H. appear to have arrived in Iowa on 29 Oct, 1879.
